About The Artist
‘The Beach’ celebrates the diverse mix of people that inhabit Barcelona’s shores through the summertime from near and far. His imagery does not judge, but presents the energy and vitality of his subjects. These are ordinary people. Some are body beautiful others are not, but no less fascinating for it.
‘Instinto’ presents a very different dynamic of Barcelona’s cultural landscape, this time inside a Latino club. Away from the open spaces of the seaside these revellers dance to the sounds of home with vigour and enthusiasm. Lluis Artus captures their intensity as they loose themselves to the music and each other. The club itself is a dangerous place. After gaining the trust of the owners and its customers Artus was able to photograph their world in detail. The way in which the clubbers express and adorn themselves, their facial expressions and body language are depicted with equal verve by Lluis Artus’ lens.
